Trans Agulhas Inflatable Boat Challenge 2025
The Trans Agulhas Inflatable Boat Challenge returns to South Africa’s southern coastline from 28–31 December 2025,
delivering four days of raw ocean racing, team grit, and spectacular coastal scenery. Launched from Hobie Beach in Plettenberg Bay, the multi-stage route pushes crews through changing conditions and tight beach finishes before the final sweep to Strand Beach, Cape Town.
Now in its latest edition, the event draws experienced two-person teams and adventure-seeking crews who race purpose-built inflatable boats across open sea, surf zones, and exposed coastal stretches. Each day tests seamanship, fitness, and split-second decision-making as crews balance speed with safety through variable swell and wind patterns. For coastal communities, the race brings festival atmosphere and a boost for local tourism, with beachside spectator points and onshore activities at key stops.
Organizers emphasize strict safety protocols, mandatory equipment checks, and a robust support fleet to ensure competitors and spectators alike can enjoy the spectacle responsibly. Whether you’re a seasoned competitor, a family looking for an action-packed day at the beach, or a media outlet seeking striking visual stories, the Trans Agulhas Challenge offers high-adrenaline racing and memorable moments against a backdrop of wild, scenic coastline.
