Plett Rage 2017 Memoirs
Despite Plett Rage 2021 being cancelled, many of the ragers stuck around and proceeded to enjoy their celebrations in Plett.
Clem and Bev Peinke own the local Pie Shop in Plett. Whilst serving the 2021 ragers Bev was reminded of a post she had shared after the Plett Rage in 2017 and she felt compelled to share her piece once again.
“There is certainly a different air in the town regarding the Ragers in comparison to how it was four years ago. Yet, the youngsters find a way to bring ‘life’ to our streets and it is wonderful to see the town abuzz, albeit under certain restrictions!”
We are changing the guards at Plettenberg Bay … Doo Dah Doo Dah

With Plett Rage Festival done and dusted for this year, the students make their way home, no doubt needing recovery time and Mommy’s home cooking!
Personally, I thought I coped very well being half a century-plus some, or so I thought until this morning… my eyelids feel like I nosedived the beach and, just as well I shaved my underarms as the hairspray I used as deodorant could have given a new meaning to sticky armpits!
The overindulged youngsters with their sunburned noses and torsos hitching a ride along the main routes have been replaced with tourists donning backpacks, sunhats, and water.
Sales on alcohol, two-minute noodles, and condoms plummet, and Sparzas stock up on fresh fruit juices, bread, and milk.
Retail businesses change their sandwich boards from Hangover Pies to Christmas Mince Pies, Red Bull Icecream to the conventional chocolate flavour.
The taxis emblazoned with circular advertising that scooted around the town with music pumping have been replaced with an assortment of family CRV’s all looking for parking.
Franchise food outlets take a hit as holidaymakers revel on the decks of local eateries taking in the views and sipping homegrown wines.
The beach returns to a multitude of brollies with parents of tots building sandcastles, carrying buckets and spades, and applying suncream by the bucketload… Gone is the fancy freeform white tent used to house matric students who had the time of their lives!
Whatever your reason is for being in this town, among the positives and the negatives, Plett has the ability to accommodate all, supported by an incredible team of law enforcement, lifeguards, volunteers, and crime prevention response teams who have your back at all times.
‘Tis the season for merriment!
Stay safe out there and enjoy every moment!
