Pick n Pay PnP People n Planet Robberg 5 Beach Cleanup
The Pick n Pay PnP People n Planet beach clean up took place at Robberg 5, on 9th July 2019.
This was the second out of eight Pick n Pay PnP People n Planet beach clean-ups, that have been kindly sponsored by Pick n Pay, Plettenberg Bay.
The cleanup team consisted of about 30 participants that were divided up into four groups. This included the enthusiastic estate agent team from Seeff. And even though it was a cold morning, everyone set to work and achieved outstanding outcomes.
Two groups cleaned up the Robberg 5 to Robberg 1 section, and the other two cleaned up the Robberg 5 to Sanctuary beach section.
It is very evident that the dune areas between Robberg 5 and Sanctuary beaches are a very popular sundowner and smoking location. Sadly though, many people do not take their empty bottles and cigarette butts away with them.
Here is a summary of what was collected:
- 91 Plastic pieces
- 30 Plastic bags
- 82 cigarette butts
- 28 Glass bottles
- 18 plastic bottles
- 16 metal bottle caps
- 12 Plastic bottle caps
- 8 strands of rope
- 7 plastic lids
- 5 take out food packages
- 5 pieces of foil
- 4 bundles of fishing line/net
- 4 items of clothing
- 3 condoms
- Many pieces of tissue/toilet paper
- A few construction materials, including shards of a windowpane
