Knysna Plett Concert Series presents TwoPianists
The first concert of the year was a sell-out, and this evening will be no less fabulous!
Luis Magalhaes and Nina Schumann are a successful husband and wife team who separately and together are award-winning musicians.
Nina, who was born and raised in Stellenbosch, was appointed an associate professor of piano at the University of Stellenbosch in 1999, a post she held while still studying at the University of North Texas, where she met her husband to be, Luis.
Portuguese born Luis also holds a professorship at the University of Stellenbosch and together they founded the Stellenbosch Chamber Music Festival in 2004.
As part of their services to the South African musical community, they founded an independent record label, TwoPianists, which provides a platform to promote opportunities for local musicians to record but also to put South African music on the global scene.
They will be playing Beethoven’s Symphony No 7 in A Major op 92. ( Arranged for four hands by H. Ulrich and C Czerny); Debussy’s Symphony in B Minor, piano duo; and Ravel’s Rapsodie Espagnole ( arranged for four hands by Ravel himself).
These are concerts featuring the very best in local and international musicians, so please come with friends or your music student children as this is a wonderful opportunity for them to see top artists in action!
