Dr Evil Classic 3 Day Stage Race Highlights
The recent Dr Evil Classic 3-Day Stage Race took place in Plettenberg Bay from September 19th to 21st, 2024.
This renowned mountain biking event, named after the fictional Dr. Evil from Austin Powers, is a highlight on the mountain biking calendar. Known for its exhilarating yet challenging stages, it attracts riders from across the globe with its world-class trails, breathtaking coastal scenery, and views of the Indian Ocean.
The race caters to both seasoned athletes and beginners, making it an inclusive yet competitive event.
Over the years, the race has gained a strong reputation for its seamless organization, selling out consistently due to its carefully curated routes, superb rider support, and reasonable entry fees. Each stage of the three-day event offers something new, with distances under 70 kilometers, making it manageable for most participants while still offering a tough challenge for those keen on racing.
In 2024, the event celebrated its 12th edition, cementing itself as a must-attend race on the Garden Route during Heritage Day weekend. The course, designed by Leon Evans, is a perfect blend of stunning scenery and technical challenge, ensuring riders are pushed to their limits while enjoying the natural beauty of Plettenberg Bay.
