Linda and Ole treat Masizame kids to pizza and pyjamas!
On Friday the 17th May 2019, Linda and Ole Olsen, the owners of Aquavit Guest House, treated the children of Masizame to pizza and the sweetest snuggliest pyjamas.
The children were overjoyed to see Linda and Ole again, and after singing their beautiful songs were treated to pizza!.
“A big thank you to the guests and owners of Aquavit Guest House. Thanks to your continual generousity. Linda and Ole shopped Plettenberg Bay dry, in sourcing really ‘cool’ pyjamas for our children. The children thoroughly enjoyed the pizza. Thank you both xxxx” – Masizame.
About Masizame
Since 90% of abused victims are usually victimised by someone close to them, Masizame sets out to educate families on the best way to deal with the situation as it rises.
Parents receive 3 pamphlets, which are explained in detail to them:
Child Protection Register – to record abuse and the perpetrator.
Child Exploitation – covers different types of exploitation and the steps to be taken.
Safety Networks – the children are introduced to people they can trust and talk to.
Masizame aims to empower vulnerable children and their families, by providing quality intervention services with the goal that each child reach their full potential and become responsible contributing members of their communities.
They encompass 3 areas of support for vulnerable children:
- A Child & Youth Care Centre for 30 children who have been found by the Children’s Court to be need of care and protection. Children are assigned into our statutory care for a period of 6 months to 2 years.
- A Drop-In Centre where 54 vulnerable children receive food have their personal hygiene needs met with a hot shower and laundry, life-skills training, mentorship, educational support, and guidance. Early Intervention initiatives include family support services, parental empowerment, and ADP Adolescent Development Programmes,
- An Adolescent Development Programme for 80 vulnerable children who are from families living in impoverished communities and at risk of abuse and neglect.
