Overcoming Kilimanjaro & the Challenges to Education
Overcoming Kilimanjaro & the Challenges to Education
We’ve all heard the phrase ‘Pay it forward’, this idea that all of us have received and unasked for gift/opportunity and that it cannot be fully appreciated by just repaying the person who has given it to us, but rather by giving a gift/opportunity to someone else.
That is where this Journey campaign started. Cecile Cilliers, the financial manager from Todwil was inspired by Lee den Hond, the 3rd South African Woman to summit Mount Everest, and at the same time raised funds for the Carte Blanche Making a Difference trust. Not only did Cecile have her own challenges to overcome, she took on the challenges facing anyone wanting to summit Mount Kilimanjaro.
But she did not only wanted to do it for herself – she wanted help Bridges Academy and the students that attend there. She can not only be a role model of perseverance and overcoming challenges but also do something tangible and pay it forward by supporting one of the Todwil Foundation’s initiatives.

Bridges Academy
And so the Todwil Foundation and Bridges of Hope South Africa is partnering together to raise full year sponsorships for 10 orphaned and vulnerable students to attend Bridges Academy, a small private boarding school for orphaned and vulnerable children from the Cape Flats, situated in the beautiful Franschhoek valley.
Would you consider joining this journey to raise funds and awareness for the students and support Cecile as they overcome the different challenges they face?
As we encourage Cecile to overcome Kilimanjaro, we encourage and help these orphaned and vulnerable children overcome the challenges they face to get the best education.
