World Sight Day at Cure Day Clinics
World Sight Day (WSD) is an annual day of awareness held on the second Thursday of October, to focus global attention on blindness and vision impairment.
On the 9th of October 2013, Cure Day Clinics St Stephens Paarl and 2 specialists of Paarl gave their space and time for free to assist 10 senior citizens of Paarl and surrounding areas, without medical aids, by performing FREE cataract surgery in order to improve their quality of life and to be able to see their children and grandchildren again.
Cure Day Clinics St Stephen’s Paarl provided its staff and theatre time free towards this project. Ophthalmologists Dr Roland Berry and Dr Martin Stallman performed the surgeries for free with Dr Gideon Van Lill & Dr Rosseau to assist as Anesthetists. Some of the pharmaceutical companies also donated products and consumables to make this day a success. We specifically want to thank Alcon for their very big donation. We also want to thank Checkers Lady Grey, Transcriptions Four-Zero-Six, Cathmar and NB Solutions Audio Visual for their kind financial donations.
