In need of some decent bonding time with your son? Why not try one of these father-son activities in Paarl and surroundings or get together a group and take part in a team activity near Paarl.
Beer Tasting
Beer tasting is a great way to bond with the lads. Bar di Bar at Laborie Wine Farm and Bergriver Brewery are two great spots to try out some amazing local craft beers. Order a beer tasting and some snacks and enjoy some quality time with the boys. Various tastings are available and new craft beers are introduced monthly, either bottled or on tap.
Golfing
If you are avid golfers make your way to Pearl Valley Golf Estate. Sporting 18 holes, this Jack Nicklaus masterpiece was handcrafted by the golf legend himself and every hole is played against the backdrop of the mountains that frame Pearl Valley at Val de Vie Estate. After your round make your way to the Valley Restaurant and Bar for some great food and something to quench your thirst.
Fishing
See who can catch the biggest fish! Paarl has various dams where you can do freshwater angling. Paarl Dam, situated on Paarl Mountain, is a great first timer fishing spot, . You will need to join the Paarl Freshwater Fishing club and obtain a permit. They also have family packages available. Once you’ve joined, you can go fishing at 10 dams in the area. Read more here.
Croc Cage Diving
Prepare yourself for an adrenalin pumping hair raising encounter at Le Bonheur Crocodile Farm! The spacious cage can easily take up to 10 divers and will spend approximately 20 minutes in the water with the crocs. Whilst in the cage their in house photographer will take photos of and make a video of the group that can be watched and purchased after the dive. All dive equipment required for the dive are provided.
DIY Projects
Need to paint the house or finish off that DIY project you started? Why not redecorate his room? DIY projects are a great way for father and son to bond while getting the job done. Whether you need paint, building materials or some finishing touches, Buco Paarl will provide for all your needs.
Boats & Braai
Splish,splash – the Berg River offers various water activities at the Berg River Resort. Hire a canoe and sail across the river or cool off in the swimming pool or water slide.They also have great braai facilities, and the river provides great opportunities for freshwater fishing.
Action Sport
Paarl Action Sports offers great group activities for boys and men of all ages. Put together 2 teams and challenge each other with indoor cricket, soccer or hockey. To make it interesting, let the losing team be responsible to do the braai at their braai facilities.
Camping
The crackling of the fire, the starry skies and marshmallows on the fire. Camping is a great way to do some father and son bonding old school style with Mother Nature as your companion. A great place for camping is at the Bergriver Resort & on top of Du Toitskloof, which has an overnight cabin available.
Cycling and Mountain Biking
Paarl offers an array of cycling routes, for mountain – and road cyclists. Hit the road on a beautiful day and get your heart racing with a challenging race or just relaxed driving through the meandering paths. Rhebokskloof Wine Farm offers Hero Adventure Trails. Tired of always having to watch chick flicks? In the mood for an adrenaline-pumping, action-packed movie?
