Guest House Assistant Manager Job Description

Reports To: The Guest House Manager and the Owners of De Kleijne Bos Country House

SUMMARY: Supports the Guest House Manager in overseeing all aspects of Guest House Management in accordance with Company objectives, including maximization of financial performance, guest satisfaction, and staff development within established quality standards.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility in a safe and satisfactory manner, and the individual must be punctual and have a good attendance record, and have reliable means of transportation to work. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ensure that the Guest House Manager’s and the owners instructions and vision are communicated, understood, achieved and maintained by staff.
2. Attend to the daily breakfast, drinks orders and additional guest meals as required.
3. Perform each criteria as expected of the Guest House Assistant Manager in a satisfactory manner.
4. Create an operating environment that assures consistent guest satisfaction.
5. Manage the Central Reservation System program, Company-issued internet browser programs and Company-issued electronic mail programs in an effective manner as per company procedures.
6. Execute marketing, sales, and operational activities, producing results that meet or exceed the company’s business plan.
7. Ensure good safety practices of employees and guests, assisting in the maintenance of proper emergency and security procedures.
8. Understand the government regulations affecting the establishment’s operations, ensuring that the establishment is operated in compliance with all applicable laws, ordinances, regulations, and requirements of any federal, state or municipal authority.
9. Deal with the general public, customers, employees, and government officials with tact and courtesy.
10. Plan and organize the work of others.
11. Accept full responsibility for managing an activity.
12. Assist the guest house manager with any duties relating to the management of the farm.
13. Assist with the completion of leave forms for all types of leave taken by the farm staff.
14. Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Typically, directly supervises 2 to 10 employees at the establishment. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies, training programs, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Guest House Assistant Managers must have developed language skills to the point to be able to:
1. Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, newspapers, periodicals, journals, and manuals.
2. Write routine reports, correspondence, business letters, summaries, and reports using prescribed format, and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.
3. Ability to speak effectively before groups such as customers or employees.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Guest House assistant Managers must have sufficient computer skills that will allow them to be able to use, in a proficient manner, all Company-issued software programs implemented at the hotel, including but not limited to the following:
1. Microsoft Word
2. Microsoft Excel
3. Central Reservation System programs
4. Company-issued internet browser programs
5. Company-issued electronic mail programs

REASONING ABILITY: Guest House Assistant Managers must have developed reasoning abilities to the point to be able to:
1. Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
2. Use mathematical skills to interpret financial information.
3. Read and interpret business records and statistical reports.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
