Cansa Care Centre Lowveld
We raise awareness to detect cancer early!
Welcome to CANSA Lowveld
The CANSA Care Centre Lowveld is a regional branch of CANSA South Africa and is located in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. Our purpose is to lead the fight against cancer in South Africa and to act as a support group for those affected by cancer in the Lowveld region. The mission of CANSA is to be the preferred non-profit organisation that enables research, educates the public and provides support to all people affected by cancer.
Through our scientific research findings and the knowledge gained, we are able to educate the public by promoting health programmes countrywide, thereby instilling a message of hope and opportunity into the communities.
We provide support and care to cancer survivors and those affected by cancer, enabling them to feel a sense of belonging and comfort. CANSA also has a volunteer project whereby members of the community may get involved in the fight against cancer by sharing their skills and resources with their community.

Our Projects
Shavathon
CANSA Shavathon is a national event whereby the public may show solidarity with those affected by cancer. This event normally takes place between February and March each year and involves shaving one’s hair as a gesture for who lose their hair in the fight against cancer. For those who do not want to or are unable to shave their hair, there is the option of colouring your hair.
Relay For Life
CANSA Relay For Life is an initiative that takes place around the world, bringing together people who have survived cancer, those who care about them and the community. Because cancer doesn’t sleep, this relay event takes place over 24 hours where teams of 10 to 15 people walk around a track in turns for the duration of the event. Dedications are made to those who have the lost their battle, to those who are still fighting and to those who have won their struggle against cancer. Each team is encouraged to raise funds for their local CANSA office.
Tea On The Terrace
The biggest, annual woman’s cancer fundraising event in the Lowveld, Tea On The Terrace is a project aimed at raising funds for CANSA simply by having fun. Businesses or individuals may host a team party for CANSA and invite friends or colleagues who are asked to make a donation. Each year see’s a different theme whereby the tables are decorated with style! Enjoy a morning filled with entertainment, motivational speakers, cancer awareness and laughter in aid of the Cancer Association of South Africa.
Night Of a Thousand Stars
Night Of a Thousand Stars is a “favourite” among fundraising events in the Lowveld. Sonpark Boulevard in Nelspruit is transformed into a magical venue. All guests are inspired to dress up to a theme and enjoy an evening of fine dining, music and entertainment in aid of CANSA. Guests get to experience a three course meal prepared by local restaurants & caterers while listening to a line up of music and entertainment. Tickets are normally around R250 per person and all funds go to CANSA Lowveld.
