Barberton XCM 2020 Photo Gallery

25 January 2020, Barberton – The 24th Barberton XCM MTB Challenge presented by Rotary Club Barberton and sponsored by Mopani Pharmacy , took place in the iconic town of Barberton at Barberton High School in Mpumalanga on a cloudy summer’s day.

The massive rainfall received the night before made for a very exciting race and did not stop the almost 1500 #DaisyWarriors from taking on the Makhonjwa Mountains.

The defending champion Nico Bell and now a 4th-time winner, took 1st place in the men’s ultra marathon of 110km in a time of 4:57.39. Alan Gordon took 2nd place with Timo Cooper in 3rd.

Mariske Mclean was the women’s winner of the ultra marathon 110km after crossing the finish line in 6:32:59. Kristen Louw took 2nd place while Natasja Kask came 3rd.

Brand du Plessis took the men’s full marathon of 77km again this year, this time in 3:28:51 with Wayne Van Der Walt this year moving up to 2nd place and Muzi Shabangu in 3rd.

The woman’s full marathon was won by Zandri Strydom with a time of 4:23:14 with Taryn-Maie Wlle coming in 2nd and Inge van Dyk taking 3rd place.
