CMDA Report Back Evening
The Casterbridge Music Developement Academy (CMDA) and 2Enable recently held a report back evening to celebrate their achievements and find out what’s in the pipeline for the near future!
Programme Director of the CMDA, Mike Matthews enlightened guests with information about his educational tool, 2Enable.org and the progress they have made among local schools with regards to online education.
In between the presentation, the audience were entertained by three of the CMDA bands. Firstly Vital Crew showed some real soul with songs like the Pata Pata dance by MIriam Makeba and Brenda Fasie’s Weekend Special, next up Apple Finger performed many songs by popular pop rock musician Cindy Lauper and lastly Cafe Wha had the crowd on their feet with a very energetic rock performance.
The CMDA currently has over 200 active members that includes a couple of bands and a full orchestra. Their members range from kids in private school and government schools to parents and even grandparents.
They recently launched their 2Enable program that aims to make free learning material available to all kids, especially those in rural areas.
“If there’s one thing we’re utterly passionate about, it’s the empowerment of our community and the world at large. We may still be young, but our appetite for enabling South Africa’s future generation has seen us achieve a great many things in the past three years” CMDA Team
