Sappi Lowveld 2018 #CommunityMatters Awards shortlist
Sappi Lowveld has announced the shortlist for its 2018 #CommunityMatters social responsibility outreach awards, which encouraged individuals or organisations to share their community outreach experience and stand a chance to win a share of R35,000 for their charity or cause.
Sappi Lowveld launched its #CommunityMatters Awards and social media campaign to
showcase the positive influence and measurable results that its corporate social
responsibility projects have when it comes to improving people’s lives.
“We also wanted to provide individuals in our Lowveld communities with an opportunity to
share their outreach stories, so that like-minded people could unite for a common goal – the
greater good of people in the Lowveld,” says Elsabe Coetzee, Sappi’s Regional
Communications Manager.
The initiative not only provides an excellent platform for people to showcase their good work,
but also for Sappi to support charities and causes with exposure and a prize for the most
inspiring story.
Following the closing date for entries on 15 August, 13 entries have been shortlisted for
judging. These entries will be featured on the #SappiLowveld Facebook page
(@SappiLowveld) every week until the winner is announced at the Kruger Lowveld Chamber
of Business and Tourism (KLCBT) Annual Awards Ceremony on 19 October.
“The standard of entries was extremely high and we received a wide variety of submissions,”says Coetzee.
“The #CommunityMatters Awards shines a light on charitable organisations in our community
and tells a powerful story of the fantastic work that they do. There was a truly varied range of
entries, which exemplified the passion and innovation we see in our community every day,”
she adds.
This year’s awards, sponsored by Sappi, is a first for the Lowveld. The shortlisted entries
include causes for animals, babies and children, rural communities, old age homes and
children’s homes. The top three entrants will be invited to the KLCBT Annual Awards, where
the winner will receive their award as part of the KLCBT-Sappi Corporate Social
Responsibility Awards.
