The 10th Annual CANSA Relay for Life | 2017 Photos

The 10th annual Nelspruit CANSA Relay for Life took place at the Mbombela Stadium this past weekend.

2017 – Themed “Lets paint Mbombela Purple” and with more than 1000 Nelspruiter’s coming out to support this fantastic initiative, it was an absolutely fantastic evening in support of a great cause as everyone celebrated the survivors and those that are no longer with us.

With no rain expected for this years event, the relay was held on the “B” grounds next to the Mbombela Stadium with relay supporters donning their best purple attire under the clear Mpumalanga skies.

As always local businesses supported the event, with over 55 teams competing to show their support for the great annual cause. J&M Security definitely stood out among all the patrons with the largest group for the 2017 event.

This year, supporters were offered points for completing some “tasks” amongst others which included free testing at Kiaat Hospital, donating blood at the SANBS and finishing the relay of course.

The VIP area was sponsored by Crossings Centre for the survivors this time around and as always looked amazing in line with the theme and a job well done by all the organizers involved.

Some of the entertainment for the evening included once again Crossfit and their impressive display of different training exercises, of course the pajama parade and then last but not least, a special remembrance illumination time where all the lights were turned off and hundreds of sand filled bags with candles in, were placed in the centre of the field that spelt out “HOPE” and then lit while acoustic music was played out softly over the PR system. The soft gentle sounds echoed out into the Lowveld night while all the patrons payed their respects to loved ones lost by cancer in some form or way.
