Mbombela – In collaboration, the Riverside CID Social Investment Foundation and BP Riverside have partnered to mark Menstrual Hygiene Month by making a financial donation to Blossom Care Solutions. This significant contribution aims to support the admirable endeavours of Blossom Care Solutions in addressing period poverty, building local businesses and advancing menstrual hygiene awareness.
Period poverty is a pressing South African issue affecting countless women and girls and hindering their access to essential menstrual products and information. The Riverside CID, in line with its commitment to community welfare and its unwavering dedication to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), has taken proactive steps to combat this challenge.
Jointly BP Riverside and the Riverside CID Social Investment Foundation have donated R10,000 to Blossom Care Solution, which will empower Blossom Care Solution to further expand its initiatives, providing much-needed support to vulnerable individuals and communities affected by period poverty.
Blossom Care Solution, a renowned social enterprise, has been at the forefront of the menstrual hygiene movement, working tirelessly to break down barriers and create a world where menstruation is no longer a hindrance to education, health, and well-being. Their multifaceted approach includes education, awareness campaigns, and distribution of menstrual products to underserved populations.
“Our partnership with BP Riverside and Blossom Care Solution reflects our unwavering commitment to fostering positive change and eradicating period poverty,” said Gary Phillips, Riverside CSI Programme Manager. “By joining forces, we can make a significant impact in the lives of women and girls, ensuring their right to menstrual hygiene and empowering them to reach their full potential.”
This collaboration aligns perfectly with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 5: Gender Equality and Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being. By addressing period poverty and promoting menstrual hygiene, the Riverside CID, BP Riverside, and Blossom Care Solutions contribute to creating a more equitable society, where all individuals can thrive and fulfil their aspirations.
The Riverside CID extends its heartfelt gratitude to BP Riverside for their valuable support and commitment to the community. Together with Blossom Care Solutions, they are igniting a transformative movement that paves the way for a future where menstrual hygiene is universally accessible and stigma-free.
