Africa Joy, a special shopping experience at Casterbridge
Africa Joy, owned by White River’s Marlize Meyer since 2009, is an intriguing gift shop for tourists and locals alike. Situated close to Rottcher Wineries at the Casterbridge Lifestyle Centre, one but cannot help browsing around the shop to find a gift that’s a little different and hand-made.
If Marlize isn’t at the shop, Dudu Nkosi – long-time employee, even before Marlize took over Africa Joy’s reigns in 2009 – will be there to greet you with her beautiful smile and show you the original range of South African hand-made gifts on offer.
Originally from Cape Town, Marlize is ensuring that Africa Joy is no longer seen as one of White River’s best kept secrets, but that it’s definitely the shop to visit when looking for a gift that you simply won’t find anywhere else.
There is a surprising range of gifts and products on offer at Africa Joy, from cards, accessories and body products to goodies for men, women and children.
Frequent shoppers can open a loyalty card to qualify for a shopping voucher after spending a certain amount.
The stock sold at Africa Joy is personally selected by Marlize to ensure originality, craftsmanship and where possible eco consciousness and community upliftment.
“I believe in shopping for something different to make a difference. That’s why, when possible, we support high-end community upliftment projects and individual local crafters who strive a little harder,” she says.
