Moving into stillness yoga | Old Joe’s Kaya
Venue: Old Joe's Kaya
Dates: 10/08/2018 to 12/08/2018
Times: 12h00
OJK is an owner run guest house situated on 3,5 hecters of lush land in the Schoemanskloof Valley approximately 260km from Joburg. Old Joe’s Kaia are renowned for their exquisite vegan meals mostly sourced from their own organic garden which is conveniently nurtured on their property. Since 2017 OJK has closed their doors to the general public and is only open for group events and as a vegan food distributor. We are therefore very lucky to be able to enjoy this magnificent venue for this retreat.
A stay at OJK is like being in an enchated forrest – yet homey, welcoming and tranquil.
The intention of the weekend is to give you time away from the business of life to enjoy stillness and simplicity of being. This is a rejuvenating weekend of good food, movement, meditation and time in nature to do the things you cannot find time for like reading, coloring in or simply catching up on some well deserve rest. You’ll leave energised and lifted out of the mid year slump.
The yoga classes are suitable for all levels. There will be a Vinyasa/Flow class in the morning and a relaxing Yin Yoga in the evenings. Each class will offer a practical mindfulness tool which can be taken away from the retreat and implemented in daily life.
WHAT TO EXPECT (Scroll down for the bullet point schedule)
Day 1 – Friday
After you arrive and sette into your cosy cottage we meet around a scrumptious lunch. Once the bellies are satisfied time to rest or explore the surrounds (there are 65 marked indigenous trees on the property).
We will commence the yoga sessions with a soothing Yin-Yang Yoga flow. Meals are definitely the highlight of the retreat as OJK tantilises our taste buds with their unique menu. We will warm up by the bon fire while Vikkee Rayner entertains us with her delightful voice. The rest of the night is yours to rest, relax and connect.
Day 2 – Saturday
We start the day with a meditation followed by a Vinyasa Yoga class. Once you’ve worked up an appetite we’ll head over to the wooden deck for breakfast among tree tops.
There is an option to take a short nature hike or rest after breakfast.
We’ll reconnect over lunch after which there will be more free time. OJK offers body treatments by apporintment (not included in retreat price).
We will seal the day with Yin Yoga class followed by a Yoga Nidra (“yogic sleep” meditation). After dinner you can linger in the dinning room by the fire place with your favorite drink/beverage
Day 3 – Sunday
Sunday morning will seal our retreat with a meditation and yoga session. After breakfast savor the last moments in nature with your new found friends and depart at leisure.
The day before the retreat commences is a public holiday. There is an option to arrive on the 9th and enjoy the day at own leisure (there is no program and Patrycja will arrive on 10th August)

About Patrycja
Patrycja Mochocka, has been teaching yoga since 2009. She loves all forms of movement and is qualified in many styles of yoga which makes her approach versatile and fresh. Her classes are focused on her students and she takes care to make everyone feel welcome and assist wherever possible. Even though she likes to teach a strong class with fun postures she makes the practice accessible to all by giving modifications and amplifications. She doesn’t take herself or the practice too seriously, often cracking jokes about our challenges and struggles. You can expect to leave the class feeling connected and lighthearted.
“What I love about yoga is that it challenges my body and mind. Shows me my strengths and helps me laugh at my weaknesses. Over years of practice my heart has softened towards myself and others. I have more joy and peace in my day to day life. I’m not perfected and there are times when I mess up but now there is space for progress and connection instead of perfection. Which makes life a whole lot more fun to live..”
Besides yoga, Patrycja loves to connect with friends, her passion is teaching teachers, geekeing out on anatomy and philosophy, making delicious raw food and dancing.
