Severe thunderstorm wreaks havoc
The severe thunderstorm promised for Middelburg yesterday by the South African Weather Service made its arrival early this morning, wreaking havoc on Middelburg, causing multiple road closures.
Motorists are warned that the N11 (Loskop) between the Protea intersection and the Harry Gwala turn-off has been partially blocked off after the copse of pine trees lining both sides of the road was mowed down by strong winds.
Numerous pine trees have snapped with branches lying in the left-hand lane headed towards Groblersdal.
The Parks Department is currently at the scene to clear the road.
Middelburg is littered with felled trees all over.
Three trees have fallen over in Sipres Street, and multiple trees have fallen over in Dennesig with part of Steve Biko also blocked off.
