Stefan Jansen lands sought after record deal and releases second single!
Stefan Jansen is proof that hard work pays off. In the midst of a global pandemic, his career has gone from strength to strength.
His debut single, Verdienste en Genade, was playlisted by major radio stations and he recently landed a record deal with Vonk Musiek.
To add to the excitement, he has just released a brand-new song and it is definitely going to create a buzz on the radio as well as in music circles.
SUIKERBOS is a contemporary track, written by the artist himself, that encourages listeners to find happiness before it passes them by.
“This song was inspired by a conversation I had with myself in the mirror. I was lost and fighting an internal battle. The moment I started focusing on the things that were important to me (music), I rediscovered myself and calmed down. Suddenly, it was easy to talk about my career. I felt proud and worked harder than ever before. Furthermore, I also found love with someone who has always been there for me,” he shares about this song, produced by Vonk Musiek’s Tertius Human.
According to the versatile musician, Tertius immediately thought that the song had potential and recorded it to play for his colleagues. It has opened many doors for him, and he is very grateful for the opportunity to share his music with the public.
“SUIKERBOS tells the story of my journey to self-discovery. I hope people will experience the passion and emotion I put into the song and that it will remind them that there is a lot to be thankful for. Happiness (love) is often much closer than you think,” he says.
The song is so dear to him, that he decided to record his first official music video of this track.
The video is based on his own life and tells the story of a hard-working emerging musician who struggles with the daily challenges of the music world and then realises that he was looking for happiness and success in all the wrong places.
It was produced by Vonk Musiek’s Wian van der Walt and shot on location at the Infinity Theatre in Pretoria, as well as a house in the East Rand.
“Because fans are used to seeing me on stage, we decided to include a few performance shots. The rest of the video depicts my everyday life between shows and creates the scenario that makes me realize that what I want has always been right in front of me,” he says. “Shooting my first music video was a great experience and it was a privilege to work with Vonk’s professional team.”

Stefan has always loved music and was still in school when his father taught him to play guitar. What started out as campfire music in the bush, soon grew into paid solo performances at restaurants and bars for pocket money in Pretoria, where he went to study Law.
Over the years, he has shared the stage with several big names, including Jan Blohm, Valiant Swart, Justin Serrao, Crash Car Burn, The Parlotones and Anton Goosen.
When not writing music, he is building his own acoustic guitar – a project he embarked on during the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. He reveals that it is almost finished and that he cannot wait to play it on stage.
In these uncertain times, he tries not to plan too far ahead. But he has come to realise that he is looking for stability and wants to continue pursuing his dreams and talent with people. “I want to spend time with my people, learn, grow and enjoy life. In the end, that is all we really have,” he concludes.
