Preserving Summer
Article from the March 2012 issue of Country Life Magazine.
Learn how to preserve fruit and vegetables using traditional Italian bottling recipes in this two-day workshop in April.
Surrounded by certified organic farms producing the freshest of Nature’s summer bounty, you will use Miki Ciman’s Italian country kitchen recipes to prepare pickles and preserves. Stock your pantry for year-round use of aubergines, mushrooms, green beans, onions or whatever comes out of your garden. Only fresh herbs are used for the preparation of basil pesto and tomato products. You will be able to take home all you have preserved and bottled.
Famous for her food and hospitality, Miki offers tasty refreshments during the workshop’s morning teabreak. Agriturismo La Masseria will also provide a complimentary glass of wine with the delicious Italian al fresco farm luncheons.
The registration fee includes all ingredients, bottles and a copy of the recipes. Please bring your own aprons as this is a hands-on workshop requiring preparation of the fruit and vegetables.
