5 Rivers Adventure (Damaraland & Kaokoland)
22 July – 1 August, 23 September – 4 October 2013
Join us as we follow the course of the five largest west-flowing rivers in the northwest – whether they are flowing or not! The rivers are the Omaruru, Ugab, Huab, Hoanib and Hoariseb. We’ll also make time to explore lesser known riverbeds such as the Numas and Klein Numas that sometimes flow from the Brandberg into the Ugab River. We’ll travel via the Divorce Pass into the Goantagab River on our way to the Huab Swamps. The Ganamub River will lead us to the Hoanib, and the spectacular Otjipepa River will be our exit from the Hoariseb. Shaded bush camps in the riverbeds (usually two nights in each) will provide the ideal base from which to explore the surrounding areas.

Kaokoland, the Last Frontier (11 days, 11 nights)
15 – 25 April (rainy season), 6-16 May, 1-11 July 2013
Rugged mountains, deep valleys, boulder-strewn slopes and semi- desert plains merge in the north-western corner of Namibia to create a wild and unspoiled wilderness, the Kaokoveld. This remote area is home to the Himba, who follow the same way of life as they have done for centuries. Here you will find the famous desert elephants, along with black rhino, giraffe, gemsbok, springbok, kudu and even lion. The Kaokoveld remains one of the last true wilderness areas in southern Africa. On this journey you will follow in the footsteps of great explorers such as Axel Eriksson, Fred Green and Georg Hartmann, after whom the Hartmann Mountains were named. They explored the area in the lawless days when Namibia was largely a no man’s land.
