Over 130 young judoka shine at MJ’s Judo Dojo annual prize-giving and interschool team championships
MJ’s Judo Dojo in Port Elizabeth welcomed more than 130 young judokas to their annual prize-giving and interschool team championships on Saturday, 29 November. Seventeen schools and clubs from Port Elizabeth, Patensie and Jeffreys Bay took part, with MJ’s Judo Dojo claiming the overall team victory through the guidance of their coach, Sensei Reece Kramer.
According to Sensei Reece Kramer of MJ’s Judo Dojo, hosting this year’s event was a privilege. “Watching the students compete and seeing how far they have progressed in discipline, confidence and technique, was truly heartwarming. It’s always a successful championship when you see the hard work paying off and the kids having a great time,” he said.
The tournament showcased impressive judo skills across all age groups. Among the standout performances was seven-year-old Noah Wait, the current district champion and gold medallist at the 2025 Western Cape Open, who also secured first place at the 2025 South African Championships in both kata and fighting. His remarkable ability was evident throughout his matches on Saturday, earning him the title Judoka of the Year for 2025.
