Motor bike road trip from Cape Town to Cape Point
Cape Town is renowned for stunning scenery and there is no better way to experience it than on your bike – sun on your back, the scents of nature wafting through the air, feeling totally free.
Cape Town to Cape Point – 145 km
This is one of the great road trips in South Africa and you will certainly need the day if you want to make the most of this sea hugging drive.
On leaving Cape Town, follow the pink route to the M3 and Muizenberg. Before proceeding to Fish Hoek, turn left at Muizenberg and takes some pics of this famous beach of white sand and colorful change booths.
En route to Fish Hoek, you can stop at the fishing village of Kalk Bay for tea and browse the interesting shops. You can even consider a walk along the harbour wall to see the fishing boats.
Between Fish Hoek and Simonstown, stop at Boulders beach to visit the penguins.
From Simonstown continue to Cape Point where, after driving through the Nature Reserve, you can enjoy lunch.
On the return, follow the blue route and take the M65 to Kommetjie, also home to an amazing beach. If you feel energetic and love nature, this is a great beach for a walk.
From Kommetjie, keep on the M65 to Chapman’s Peak Drive which is absolutely stunning. You will then find yourself in the quaint village of Hout Bay. If you go to the harbour there, you could take in some refreshment at the Fisherman’s Wharf.
Continue along the coastal road of the Atlantic seaboard, where you can stop off at any of the world famous beaches like Llandudno, Camps Bay and Clifton. You will then pass through Three Anchor Bay back to Cape Town.
