Sparrebosch Hiking Trail, Knysna, Garden Route
Description
A beautiful short walk mere minutes from Knysna, this would be ideal for an afternoon stroll through the forest and fynbos down to the beach.
This delightful route starts at the signpost from the parking area. You will pass under the subway, this is where you will issues yourself a permit (free).
Follow the path that will lead you to a secluded bay with sea pebbles in the most beautiful hues. There are two fresh water streams that flow directly into the sea. Keep a lookout for the ‘boiling point’ of the first one under a huge rock that is only visible during low tide.
Unfortunately fishing and picnics are not permitted. The waterfall is most spectacular during the rainy season. If you are lucky enough you might spot a bushbuck. Keep a look out for numerous species of birds, which includes the Knysna Loerie.
The trail is well established and sign posted. There are steep hills and descents and it is not recommended for the elderly
