<h3 dir="auto">Orcas once again graced our Knysna coastline on the 31st of October 2021 and were beautifully captured by Ocean Odessy.</h3>
<p dir="auto">The school of Orcas has become an annual feature on our coastline over the past couple of years. They can be spotted from Angola to Mozambique and it&#8217;s always exciting when they visit our waters.</p>

<blockquote><p>The &#8220;killer whale&#8221; is actually a dolphin and in fact, is the largest member of the dolphin family.</p></blockquote>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-62517" src="https://showme.co.za/knysna/files/2021/11/orcas-3.jpg" alt="Orcas have arrived in Knysna!" width="626" height="501" srcset="https://showme.co.za/knysna/files/2021/11/orcas-3.jpg 626w, https://showme.co.za/knysna/files/2021/11/orcas-3-400x320.jpg 400w, https://showme.co.za/knysna/files/2021/11/orcas-3-200x160.jpg 200w, https://showme.co.za/knysna/files/2021/11/orcas-3-244x195.jpg 244w, https://showme.co.za/knysna/files/2021/11/orcas-3-562x450.jpg 562w" sizes="(max-width: 626px) 100vw, 626px" /></p>
<p>The name &#8220;killer whale was derived from the ancient sailors’ observations of groups of Orcas hunting and preying on larger whale species. The sailors called Orcas, &#8216;asesina ballenas&#8217;, or ‘whale killer’ – a term that was eventually flipped around to the easier version of ‘killer whale’.</p>
