Knysna joins the #TBD
Knysna Twitter Blanket Drive
A great turnout at Mitchell’s Knysna Brewery on Saturday 4 June ensured more than 150 blankets were raised for the two nominated charities: Edge of Africa’s ‘Swap-Shop’ community upliftment programme and the Knysna Police Reservists.
While the aim was to donate blankets to those less fortunate, journalist Ivo Vegter delivered a thought-provoking, well-received speech (which can be read here) on not whether we can give to charity, but whether we should.
One surprise during the event was a rendition of Blanket Blues, written (that morning) and performed by Cuan Korsten.
Special thanks go out to Knysna’s mayor-elect Councillor Georlene Wolmarans, Marlene Boyce (organiser), Jeannine Orzachowski, Mitchell’s Brewery (event host and refreshment sponsor), Knysna Round Table (for the braai and wors rolls), Mali & Me (live entertainment) and guest speakers Ivo Vegter and Dayne from Edge of Africa.
