Epilepsy SA’s Tekkie Tax campaign is only a week away from kicking off, and this year it will be held over the entire month of August, instead of just on one day.
The Tekkie Tax campaign is held annually as a means to raise vital funds for the Epilepsy SA organisation, with the Southern Cape / Karoo branch in Rio Street our local beneficiary of the campaign.
The campaign revolves around the idea of paying “tekkie tax” to wear some funky shoes or even civvies to work or school for a day in the month of August.
However, this year, due to the uncertain nature of the Covid-19 pandemic, the organisation has opted for a full month of celebration. “Because of very uncertain day-to-day operations we want to give them the chance to have their own Tekkie Tax day at any point in the month,” said Epilepsy SA Southern Cape / Karoo marketer Ashleigh Smith.
“However, we are having a Tekkie Tax business day on 20 August and encourage all businesses in our area to buy Tekkie Tax stickers at R10 each and encourage their staff to dress up (or down), in funky wear, tekkies etc on the day.”
Businesses can then take photos of their staff getting in on the fun and send it to Epilepsy SA to stand a chance of winning the floating trophy, which Allsound Security has won two years in a row.
“Preschools in Knysna will be taking part in a colouring- in competition too. The school with the most entries will win an awesome prize!” Smith said.
