In the CSA Four-day Series Division 2 match between Northern Cape Heat and the Knights from November 9 to 12, Kerrin served as one of the standing umpires. While she had previously officiated a List A fixture earlier in the year and had recently overseen women’s one-day internationals and T20 internationals, the First Class debut had eluded her until now.

Some might dismiss it as “only a Division 2” fixture, but it’s essential not to underestimate this accomplishment. Kerrin’s co-umpire on-field for the match was Jurie Sadler, a veteran with over 100 professional matches under his belt, including 53 First Class games, 54 List A games, and 17 T20 games.

The match referee for this significant fixture was none other than the legendary Shaun George, a stalwart in South African cricket with over 400 professional matches (List A, First Class, and T20) to his name.

Kerrin, at 25 years old, found herself in excellent company for her First Class debut, an experience she valued greatly. Transitioning from limited-over cricket to four consecutive days was a significant adjustment. Despite being tested throughout the match, she thoroughly enjoyed the experience, considering it a massive learning curve. Kerrin received valuable feedback from her coaches, which she plans to use for further improvement. She expressed gratitude to the player control team, comprising George and Sadler, for their tremendous support during her transition to the multi-day cricket format.
