Sky Blues fly high above Knysna
Rugby teams from Knysna took to the Knysna High School sports fields for an ANC-sponsored tournament last weekend, with Sky Blues emerging victorious after the final having beaten Sedgefield Eagle Stars.
The tournament took place on Saturday 9 November and Sunday 10 November, featuring seven teams from Knysna who would vie it out for a top prize.
The format of the tournament would see teams split into two groups – one of four, one of three – with Sky Blues, Red Army, and Busy Boyz making up the three-team group while Eagle Stars, All Blacks, Young Brothers, and Green Lovers.

Young Brothers would progress to the semis from their group alongside Eagle Stars, while Sky Blues and Red Army progressed from the three-team group. Eagle Stars would manage to defeat the Red Army while Sky Blues took down Young Brothers to set up a scintillating final between Sky Blues and Eagle Stars.
Both sides were unbeaten heading into the final, so it was always going to be an intense encounter. With late fading slowly in the late hours of Sunday afternoon and early evening, and with the crowds cheering so loud residents in Knysna heights could hear the songs being sung, Sky Blues managed to stop Eagle Stars’ ascent by winning 26-13 to be crowned champions.
