Sedgefield community engaged on proposed developments
The housing department of Knysna Municipality, led by the Director Mr Joel Mkunqwana engaged the community of Sedgefield on proposed building developments.
This was done on the evening of Tuesday, 15 October 2019 at Sedgefield Community Hall.
The engagement forms part of processes that need to be followed before a key infrastructural project of this nature kicks off.
The housing team shared the project proposals and robustly engaged a hall filled with interested residents of Sedgefield. The planned development of Breaking New Ground, FLISP, PHP and GAP houses aims to address issues of housing in the area where backyard dwellers and people living in informal settlements will be accommodated.
To strengthen the level of community engagement, ownership of these projects by communities and promoting transparency, active citizenship and consultation, legislatively such meetings have to take place before the developments take off.
