Four more trees for Sedge Village Green
Last week Tuesday, 29 September, the Sedgefield Lions Club and Knysna Municipality joined hands to plant four new trees at Sedgefield’s village green.
The trees are part of an ongoing project within Knysna Municipality, and according to Ward 2 Councillor Cathy Weideman, it is also a continuation of the community work she has done in conjunction with the Lions.
“I love working with them because of what they do for the community, and we always work so well together,” she said.
The four trees – yellowwood, Cape ash and two wild olive trees – were planted at the village green by Weideman and a team from the municipality, as well as the Sedgefield Lions Club.
“You know, it’s also such a lovely space for everyone where the community comes together,” Weideman said. “So it is special to be able to keep making it look better and better.”
The tree-planting is neither the first nor the last project that Weideman has initiated for the green. “We’ve done quite a bit of tree planting here before, and we, of course, did the outdoor gym here too about a year ago,” she explained.
“I have already asked if I can get a few more trees for more tree planting, as I would like to head to the clinic and plant them there.”
The Sedgefield Clinic is in a far corner of the village green, neighbouring the police station on one side and the Lions clubhouse on the other.
