Fast Fordyce visits slow town
Known for his blistering pace up and down the road between Durban and Pietermaritzburg, legendary South African runner and King of the Comrades Bruce Fordyce paid the Slow Town of Sedgefield a visit last week.
And not unlike the marathon he became famous for, his visit came in sections.
First he delivered a talk at Blackwaters River Lodge to promote his brand-new book Winged Messenger on Friday 10 September.
After his talk he welcomed and answered questions from attendees about the trials and tribulations throughout his lengthy career.
This was followed by a 4km run on Saturday morning, 11 September, to commemorate the opening of a new fitness centre in Sedgefield, Hems Active.

The run was brief and snaked its way along the Sedgefield Lagoon from the new shopping centre on the Main Service Road to The Island and back.
Afterwards, members of the public could meet the legend and obtain signed copies of his new book.
