Cricket dispute set to continue
Leroy Hector, president of Pacaltsdorp United Cricket Club (PUCC) was shocked to hear that their allegations of financial maladministration at the South Western Districts (SWD) Cricket Board had been found to be without substance by Cricket South Africa (CSA).
CSA recently conducted an audit after allegations of financial maladministration at SWD Cricket Board was made by Hector on behalf of the PUCC. In a press statement released by the SWD Cricket Board last week, it states that: “The Internal Audit Department of CSA has identified no material weakness in the financial administration processes followed at the SWD Cricket Board.”
Hector lashed out at CSA for not even having the courtesy of contacting them, the complainants.
“They did their investigation without the vital documentary proof in our possession, which we offered them.”
Rudi Claassen, president of the SWD Cricket Board issued a press release on behalf of the SWD Cricket Board Executive Committee, which acknowledged the findings of the report underlining the sound financial administration and corporate governance processes that are in place at SWD Cricket. “The focus areas of the audit were matters related to delegations of authority, authorisation for incurring financial expenditure, authorisation for payment of financial expenditure and the recording of financial transactions.”
Hector told the George Herald that this is not the end of the three year dispute between the PUCC and the SWD Cricket Board. “We are fighters and will take the matter further. We have registered a dispute with the Western Cape Provincial Department of Sport. We will not lie down and die.The George Herald contacted Xolile Ndumndum, the Internal Audit Manager at CSA for reaction, but at the time of going to print no response hadbeen received.
