Complete the year with carpe musicam
Carpe Musicam! Orchestra has two separate programmes on offer this November and December.
Highlights 2021 is a retrospective of the very best music performed by the orchestra during this year and is a fabulous mix of classics, popular, show and film music.
The orchestra has grown since its last performances, having gained a posse of celli, a double bass, a Piccolo and a new, fully operational timpani.
Catch Highlights 2021 on the following dates:
Sunday 28 November (15:30) Dutch Reformed Church Sedgefield; Friday 3 December (19:00) and Sunday 5 December (15:30) Methodist Church George.
Celebrating Christmas
The second programme, Christmas with Carpe Musicam!, is the first performance of a new musical grouping from Carpe Musicam! called the Boutique Band. This is a modern variation on the Salon Orchestra of the early 20th century.
The choir is back, in a smaller, tighter and more solid incarnation, and will be performing in public for the first time since 2019. Also debuting will be the Carpe Musicam! Youth Ensemble, a wind group consisting of young musicians from Carpe Musicam!’s Music Skills Development Programme. Some of them are also members of the orchestra.
Performance times in December are as follows: Friday 10th (19:00) Dutch Reformed Church Blanco; Sunday 12th (15:30) Methodist Church George; Friday 17th (19:00) Dutch Reformed Church George South; Sunday 19th (15:30) Dutch Reformed Church Sedgefield.
