Clifford Julies Assumes Role as CFO at Knysna Municipality, Bringing 19 Years of Financial Expertise
Knysna Municipality is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Clifford Julies as the Chief Financial Officer, he started on 1 January 2024.
A native of Kimberly in the Northern Cape, Mr. Julies completed his education at Homevale Secondary School and pursued further studies in various faculties, accumulating over 19 years of extensive experience in the accounting, auditing, and investigation sectors. Impressively, 15 of those years were spent in leadership and management roles.
Mr. Julies holds a BCompt in accounting from UNISA, a Master’s in Internal Auditing from the University of Pretoria, and is recognized professionally as a certified fraud examiner, internal auditor, and professional accountant.
When asked about his decision to join Knysna Municipality, Mr. Julies explained, “While I was content in my previous role, I felt a need for new challenges. Knysna presented challenges I had successfully overcome in the past, and I was eager for change.” He also cited family considerations, with his son starting university and his daughter expressing a keen interest in the real estate industry within the Knysna region.
Expressing his commitment to the community, Mr. Julies stated, “I intend to leverage my extensive experience to enhance financial management, address cash flow challenges, and improve overall service delivery in Knysna.”
Mr. Julies emphasized his dedication to instilling ethical practices within the institution. He expressed his desire to cultivate a culture of responsibility and underscored the importance of the Bato Pele principle, emphasizing that the well-being of the people should always be at the core of the municipality’s activities.
With a career spanning the National Treasury, Provincial Treasury in The Northern Cape, the Office of the Auditor General SA, Dikgatlong Local Municipality, and various other municipalities, Mr. Julies described himself with humility, stating, “I am an ordinary man, down to earth, friendly, and hungry to serve.”
Municipal Manager, Ombali Sebola said, “ We look forward to the positive impact Mr. Julies will undoubtedly bring to the financial management and governance of the municipality.”
