The popular SA Senior Open, hosted by Bitou Municipality, returns to the Plett Country Club and two-time SA Open champion and current back-to-back SA Senior Open champion, Mark McNulty, has confirmed that he will return to defend his title.
He will be joined in the field by a some of South Africa’s finest senior golfers including 2007 SA Open champion James Kingston, and Kevin Stone, the father of 2016 SA Open winner Brandon Stone.
Mark McNulty will once again tee it up at the Plettenberg Bay Country Club as he aims to defend his title that he won in a tense battle against Kevin Stone in 2018. McNulty is widely considered the favourite to once again win the SA Senior Open when it tees off from the 22nd to the 25th of October 2019.
In a change to the format in 2019, the first day which will comprise of a Pro-Am will also consist of the Bitou Mayoral Golf Day. The Day will see the mayor tee it off in a day that will also raise funds for the rising stars in the area and provide selected children with membership to the Plettenberg Bay Country Club. The second day will continue with the final day of the pro-am, with the final two days featuring only the pros as they battle it out to be the 2019 champion.
Other star names to look out for in 2019 include the likes of Bobby Lincoln, Roger Wessels, Mokgeteng Mashego, Ian Palmer, Callie Swart, Chris Davison, Steve Van Vuuren, Andre Cruse and Jeff Hawkes and Chris Williams.
Entry is free to the public for the SA Senior Open to watch all four days from the 2nd to the 5th of October.
