ATM robbers caught in Knysna
Four suspects, allegedly involved in several robberies at ATMs in George today, were apprehended on the N2 near the turn-off to Welbedacht (Knysna) just after 13:00 this afternoon.
The suspects, driving a black Renault hatchback, allegedly robbed at least three people of their bank cards at ATMs in shopping centres across George.
The first incident occurred at an ATM at the Pick n Pay Centre in Knysna Road, while the second and third incidents allegedly took place at ATMs at the Checkers in the Paddagat centre and the Pick n Pay in Pre-Cap Centre (Courtenay Street).
The vehicle was pulled over by All Sound Security in Knysna after WhatsApp messages of the robberies spread like wildfire.
The victims of the ATM robberies that took place this afternoon in George are urged to open a case at the local police station. This is extremely important in order for a possible prosecution to take place.
George CPF chairman, Rupert Pretorius, said that the victims are welcome to phone him on 082 822 1870 if they need any assistance.
