Welcome to Little Elephants Pre-Primary School’s web site! We are situated in Church Street in Knysna, Garden Route, South Africa
We have a fun, loving and educational environment at our school. Our aim is to provide a safe, stimulating, child friendly orientated environment where each child is encouraged to reach their full potential. This is achieved with the support and guidance of qualified and experienced teachers.
There are 20 to 25 children in each class. There is an English Grade R class (Ages 5-6) and an Afrikaans Gr R class. The Pre RR and RRR classes are bilingual.

Here are some unique aspects to Little Elephants Pre-Primary…
School assemblies:
These take place weekly in the school hall and cover Christian values and other enrichment programmes.
• Monday: Traditional assembly
• Friday: Character building using puppets & persona dolls to tackle important issues
Giving back to the community:
This year we adopted Vermont Old Age Home.
• First Term: 31 March in the Pam Golding boxes, we gave each and every resident new toiletries
• Second Term: Our children made beautiful pictures, we laminated it, and put it on their walls to beautify their rooms
• This Term: Made a big information board to show the day, date, season, birthdays and thought for the week
Media Centre
This was a new addition in 2008 and offers the following:
• Introduction to computer literacy
• Look & listen – tape assisted reading
• A library
• Educational toys
First Aid:
• 2010 – All staff completed a first aid course
• 2010 – Completed fire and evacuation course
Teacher Training
• SOUNS: Unique literacy tool
• Computer literacy
• Conscious disciplining; using both your head and your heart

School Rules
• No learner may leave the school premises (must be signed out) during the school day unless they are accompanied by an adult.
• Should a parent not be able to collect their child, staff must be informed either telephonically or in writing.
• Learners must respect all staff and fellow pupils. No rudeness or any other socially unacceptable behavior is allowed.
• Learners must respect Little Elephants’ property at all times. No vandalism and intentional damage is accepted.
• No toys or pets are allowed to be brought to school.
• No stones or any other objects may be thrown.
• No eating on the playground is allowed
• No bullying or fighting is allowed
• No running inside the building
• Girls are only allowed to wear stud earrings
• Learners are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes to school.
• We recommend parents and teacher appointments in the afternoons.

Health improvements
We understand the importance of good nutritional values and brought about some changes at our school’s tuckshop. The children are encouraged to drink water. Two short water breaks are given during the morning, and a large water container is in the passage. We encourage the children to eat healthily by providing healthier snacks from our tuck shop on Fridays. No sweets or fizzy drinks are allowed at school during the week, except on special occasions.
School Hours
Monday to Friday 7:40 to 12:15pm.(Staff supervision from 7:15am.)
Children are to be collected at the back gate, and teachers must be informed of any exceptions.
Aftercare
Aftercare is a very important part of any school. It is time for lunch and play, under the watchful eyes of our excellent staff. There is also time for homework, snacks and playing games together.
Tuition Fees
RRR Class – R670.00 per month for 11 months.
Other Classes – R570.00 per month for 11 months.
Aftercare – R360.00
10% Discount on annual fee if paid in full before end of February.

Fun and Educational School Outings
We regularly do fun outings, with educational value, to places of interest (and where children can learn). These may include trips (by school bus) to:

• Fire station
• Vetrinary Service
• The John Benn
We also have an Annual Sport Day where we invite the local pre-primary schools to participate.
