Consciousness beyond clinical death – Dr Elaine Finkelstein
The process of dying and death can be quite an unnerving experience for many, especially when your family support doesn’t understand the process.
End-of-life experiences (dreams and visions) are an important source of meaning and comfort to the dying. These visions can occur within weeks, days, and hours before death. Typically the fear of dying and making the transition from life to death is made easier for those experiencing them.
Psychologist, author and speaker, Elaine L. Finkelstein MA, PhD, is the founder of The Transformative End-of-Life Experiences Research Foundation (TELERF) and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.
For the last fifteen years, Elaine’s research has focused on exceptional human experiences (EHEs) or human experiences that involve the mind, or consciousness, seemingly moving beyond the traditionally accepted boundaries of the human personality. She specialises in transformative end-of-life visions and experiences, the near-death experience, apparent past-life memories and the implications for life beyond life.
Elaine’s work is psycho-spiritually based and she assists those who have experienced EHEs, those who are experiencing death distress, and those dealing with fears and difficulties associated with the dying process.
Elaine relocated back to Plettenberg Bay and decided to continue her extraordinary work by holding talks at the Goose Valley Library during the upcoming weeks. There will be a maximum of ten attendees per talk, ensuring an intimate, heartfelt experience.
This series of talks, which will cover four separate topics, begins with a two-hour presentation on near-death experiences. Elaine’s focus in this presentation are the reported experiences, emotions, insights and memories of those who have been brought back from the point of clinical death. The near-death experience is described in detail and supported by case studies.
The next talk in the series will look at the evidence for past-lives, including past-life memories of young children who may have passed over traumatically and who are recalling their families and events from a previous life.
Elaine’s following talk will focus on the commencing of the death process in more depth and highlights the visions and dreams people experience prior to their death – seeing the light and meeting others or loved ones once they’ve passed. Elaine also explains why the work of the foundation (TELERF) is so important.
The final talk is more reflective in nature and, based on the insights of the first three talks, Elaine looks at their implications for some of the answers to eternal questions that have been commonly asked over time.
With many years of experience in near-death encounters, and exceptional human experiences, Elaine is compiling a series of small and easy-to-read books to accompany these talks. This is The Butterfly Series, which for her is symbolic of the metamorphosis and transformation that NDEs, and other exceptional human experiences, suggest we will discover at the end of this lifetime. Each book will be published at the time of the associated talk and the series is comprised of:
Near-Death Experiences: Inspirational insights from those who came back
Past Lives: Revelations from those who remember having lived before
End-of-Life: Exceptional and transformative experiences at life’s end
Life-after-Life: Reflections on the eternal question of what lies beyond
Death and dying are two inescapable processes that we all face sooner or later, whether through our own experience or by assisting a loved one. With the insightful assistance of Elaine Finkelstein you’ll find there is a certain fullness that surrounds the death process and there is really no reason to fear it as we do.
