Eden Kite Festival a great success
This year’s Eden Kite Festival was a huge success according to the organising committee which includes Belinda Hobson, manager of Sedgefield Tourism.
Seven international kite flyers from Holland, the UK and Poland were accommodated in Sedgefield at Member 40 Montage for five nights.
Flyers also came from KwaZulu Natal, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town. The festival was attended by 3,000 spectators including day visitors from as far as Port Elizabeth, Mossel Bay and George who supported the 25 food and product stalls on the field.
Dr Pieter Binsbergen, a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Arts at Nelson Mandela University sent an email to thank the organisers in which he wrote:
“An e-mail to you and the entire crew to say thank you for a splendid Kite Festival.
However, thinking about it, splendid may not be an apt description, nor will any other to describe the experience.
You had everything organised to perfection.
Great venue, accommodation, travels plans etc.
I anticipate this festival to become the biggest most successful event in South Africa.
Herewith “Team Binsbergen” pledge their support, loyalty and love to assist you in growing this event in future.
Well done and thank you.”
Sponsors Lew Geffen Sotheby’s International Realty was also very happy with the festival and the exposure it generated.
Profits will go to the local NPO Masithandane to assist in providing transport for local high school students to George and Knysna.
