Eden Cannabis Heritage Walk 2017 – Stop putting us in cages!
The Rasta Community and friends from surrounding areas attended the The Eden Cannabis Heritage Walk 2017, which started off from Kathy Park on the 22nd September 2017.
A large group of peaceful, pro-cannabis supporters marched to the Knysna police station, where a memorandum was delivered.
“Stop putting us in cages!”
Pro-cannabis supporters from across the Cape joined with locals of different nationalities and ages to bring about change, with regards to how cannabis users are treated by police officials in general. Supporters say there is no good enough reason why people should be arrested and “put in a cage” for the personal growth and use of cannabis.
Spokesperson and co-organiser, Brother Maxi mentioned the there are many benefits to using marijuana and that it is not only for religious purposes.
“We want officials to have more tolerance when it comes to the possession of dagga. It is part of our heritage, and we don’t want to be put in a cell for living the way we do. The road to legalisation has been a long one, and hopefully there is some light at the end of the tunnel for us,” said Brother Maxi.
Regardless of the large contingent of police that were present during the walk, the march went ahead peacefully.
