Cape St Francis Nature Reserve
Cape St Francis Nature Reserve is one of four reserves situated between Cape St Francis and St Francis Bay where you will also find the Irma Booysen Floral Reserve, Seal Point Nature Reserve and Seal Bay Nature Reserve.
The nature reserve includes a sandy beach, a pastoral rocky point and beautiful sand dunes with panoramic views over St Francis Bay.
The reserve boasts a wealth of plant life where you can also see the endangered dune thicket and dune fynbos which lies extended over the area of land which is now protected as holiday homes and accommodations border on the reserve.
The area between Port Elizabeth and Cape Town is known as the Cape Floral Kingdom as the area is rich in plant species and is recognised as one of the Floral Plant Kingdoms in the world of which there are only 6!
The reserve has an abundance of animal life so you will be sure to see game like duikers, bushbuck, grysbok, monkeys, mongoose, otters and porcupines. Many bird watchers flock to this area as the bird life here is plentiful and there has been about 200 species spotted. You can sometimes see the rare African black oystercatcher and occasionally an endangered Jackass penguin. Dolphins, namely common and bottlenose are often seen offshore, and from August to December, Southern Right, Humpback and killer Whales also known as Orca Whales may be spotted.

The nature reserve covers an area of about 120 hectares with a coastline of 3km with a beautiful view point over the bay.
