The Healthy Mom and Baby Clinic started in 2002 to serve the Kouga community when baby Ezra, born to educated parents, was almost lost due to a lack of specific knowledge in raising a baby.
It became evident that there was a need for a specialized clinic for the advancement of mother and child health.
The Clinic is the only midwife practice in the area that offers antenatal classes, antenatal consultations and scans, deliveries, postnatal care, home visits with breastfeeding care, immunizations and education aimed at improving the mom and baby’s health outside of the government institutions. Our desire is to see a decline in mother and child mortality rates in our area and to bring healing and health into family lives.
The Clinic is a registered NGO and NPO that commits to bringing good medical practices within the framework of a faith- based organization. It is free to all and is supported by Victory Christian Church and the many people who partner with us to improve the lives of all the mothers and children in our area.

This time will allow you to ask all your questions. We do advise you to attend Antenatal classes. Clients are required to see their midwife monthly initially, two weekly between week 30 and 36 and weekly in the last month of their pregnancy. We work together with doctors and We make scans for growth monitoring and calculation of due date.
When we detect abnormalities we refer to our local gynaecologist or doctor of your choice.
Birth Options
When a midwife?
A midwife is the specialist for normal pregnancy, normal delivery and the postnatal period. She is fully trained, equipped and passionate to coach you during this time in your life.
We approach pregnancy and birth as normal life events. We offer personal and intimate care and provide you with information to empower you to make informed decisions. No waiting for appointments, no unnecessary interventions and enough time allowing you to be heard. Together we will work out the right way and place for your baby to be born. There is an option to labour and/or birth at home.
We work togehter with Life Isivivana Private Hospital in Humansdorp for your hospital delivery.
When a doctor?
When complications occur during one of these periods, we will refer you to a doctor or gynecologist. They are specialist when things are NOT going the normal way. We embrace a multi-disciplinary approach.
