Second Makiti opportunity for local artists
A second audition period has been announced for local artists interested in performing at the first JBay Makiti in September.
The JBay Makiti will take place at the Jeffreys Bay Caravan Park from September 20 to 22.
Big names that have already been confirmed for the festival include Early B, Fatman, Elvis Blue, Tarryn Lamb, Demi-Lee Moore, Brendan Peyper, Dewald Wasserfal, Corlea Botha and Adam.
Kouga Mayor Horatio Hendricks said demos from local artists had been invited in March for consideration.
“The organisers have since received many requests from artists who would still like to submit demos; hence it was decided to extend the deadline for submissions to May 31.
“Performing slots are limited and we would like to give local artists the first option to be part of this amazing experience,” he said.
He said preference would be given to vocal performers, dancers and instrumentalists. Deejays will not be considered at this stage.
Local artists who would like to be part of the Makiti, are asked to email their details and a demo, not longer than 90 seconds, to the festival organisers.
Emails, with the subject line “JBM – Performers” – can be sent to jbaymakiti@gmail.com. The closing date is May 31.
