CapeGate Shopping Centre launches a Disney inspired art studio activation this holiday season
Cape Town, 14 December 2021 – Looking for something artsy-crafty and super creative and colourful that will put a smile on the dial this summer holiday season? Then head out to Capegate Shopping Centre who are welcoming the young, and the young at heart, into a festive world of fun inspired by Disney with an art-themed activation guaranteed to unleash the inner artist. The works of art are set to be awesome mementoes too.
The Capegate Art Studio will be located on the lower level near Entrance 2, and, says Capegate marketing manager, Zoë Ganz, “will be a centre of creativity these holidays – and hard to miss too as it will be located right next door to a huge Disney-decorated tree.”
The cost of each A3 canvas is R30, and inner Picassos, Monets, Manets, Rembrandts, Da Vincis and more can choose from a line-up of their favourite Disney characters to colour away with. The Cape gate Art Studio will be open on the 16th to the 24th December from 10H00 till 18H00 each day, with sessions lasting 45 minutes each, with a 15min clean-up and sanitisation between each session to ensure all COVID protocols are adhered to.
Ganz also shares that: “the gift of a smile is priceless and this year, we are delighted to team up with the Smile Foundation to help raise funds for corrective surgery for girls and boys across the country. To contribute to this very worthwhile initiative, simply scan the SnapScan code on display at the Disney-decorated tree in the Capegate Centre court and choose how much you would like to donate to help someone smile.”
Because it is indeed that time of year and there’s never a better time to smile, (and capture it on camera), Capegate has also arranged several differently themed photobooths for recording all the holiday fun too. Little ones can choose from a series of fun backdrops and what’s more, which can be instantly printed for R35 per photo and at the Happy Holidays wall, Capegate will be running a competition with a gift box to the value of a cool R5000 as a prize. To enter, the selfie elfie giveaway, entrants will require an Instagram account and then tag Capegate Shopping Centre and #CGHappyHolidays.
Helping hands – to continue the season of giving, Capegate is also providing gift-wrapping stations – for up to five gifts at a time – on a donation basis. If shoppers choose to pay for their wrapping, the proceeds will go to the Hyprop Foundation to add to the good work the foundation is doing across the country.
Capegate provides an excellent opportunity for young minds to dive into their imagination and paint the world in colour – and let’s face it, we could all do with some brightening up in 2021. But, even better, the CG Art Studio will still be open in January, to set the scene for a colourful, energetic, and let’s hope, fun-filled 2022.
