The point is also where the Indian and Atlantic ocean meet. The beaches found at Struisbaai all have a tropical feel about them. The water is warm and crystal clear, always inviting. Other than the beaches there are still lots of things to do in Struisbaai and Cape Aghulus.

The Southern Most Tip Of Africa…

StruisbaaiThe town apparently got its name from three sources. “Straw Bay” because of the fishermen’s thatched cottages. “Struisvogel” meaning ostrich or after the old Dutch word “huge” with reference to the longest stretch of beach. The beach to the left of the harbour makes for a great spot to enjoy an ice cream bought from one of the ice cream vans parked in the harbour. The little bay, protected by the surrounding harbour wall makes for a lovely spot to swim at. The beach running to the right is ideal for surfers and fishermen. If you are brave enough you can feed the black manta rays that Struisbaai Harbourvisit the harbour with fish scraps purchased from one of the fishermen.
