Mountain Biking In Kleinmond | Kogelberg MTB Route

Mountain Biking

Mountain biking in Kleinmond and the Overberg is an enjoyable experience, bikers will be amazed at the various mountain biking trails and the views and beauty that each route boasts.

The Kogelberg MTB Route is a difficult, one way, 39KM route that will take you up to 5 hours to complete with some serious pedaling thrown in.

Permits will cost you R30 and can be purchased at Mavericks Cycles, please note that booking is essential as the number of cyclists allowed within the nature reserve is limited.

The route begins at the Mispah Youth Camp found along the Kogelberg Dam.

There are route markers, so follow them closely. The route is bushy and sandy so this route is best recommended for the highly skilled mountain bikers. Expect steep climbs and rough sections challenging you on every pedal. Singletrack, jeep track, sand, bush and rock sections make this a very complex trail.

There is not great cell phone reception so please remember to notify somebody of your intentions to tackle the route.

Pack a few refreshments and your swimsuit. The Palmiet River is great for a swim!

*Note: There is no map of the route.
