Hiking Trails In The Overberg | Platbos Forest Walk
Hiking In The Overberg…
The Platbos forest is home to tree’s that are more than a 1000 years old. The walk is gentle and perfect for families, young and old. The duration of the walk is between 1 and 2 hours, there are benches along the way for you to sit on and enjoy the surrounding scenery.
The “forest information sheet” will provide you with all the information you need regarding the flora and fauna found in Platbos. Tree’s are labelled along the way, spot them as you go! You might even be lucky enough to spot bushbuck grazing inbetween the tree’s.
There is a stunning labyrinth made from mother of pearl sea shells, great if you are in the mood to relax and contemplate life.
The Paltbos Forest boasts accommodation on offer either in their Old Olive cabin or tented camp. Guests will be happy to know that there is a tree nursery within the area that sells a range of indigenous tree’s. Therapists would be keen to know that Platbos also offers practitioners training courses specializing in African Tree Essence.
For those looking to make a difference you can sponsor a tree that will be planted within the forest area. This makes for an ideal birthday, naming or memorial gift.
