Hermanus Tourism
Hermanus is undoubtedly South Africa’s premier land-based whale-watching destination, and has been hailed as the best in the world. We are also very proud of the fact that Hermanus is the only town in the world with a ‘Whale-Crier’, who alerts the town to the location of Southern Right whales in the bay. Lesser known, but just as big a part of the profile of Hermanus as our beloved marine mammals, are the many superb wine estates, producing some of the best wines in South Africa, and offering wine tasting and wine-estate dining.

Proximity to Cape Town and the Cape Overberg, magnificent coastal and mountain scenery and a host of marine and mountain outdoors activities in Hermanus and neighbouring Walker Bay and Gansbaai makes Hermanus a superb destination for tourists and South African’s alike, not to mention wine aficionados and people who love whales (and who doesn’t?).
